Haymes Paint: a Ballarat icon

Written by

Over the past few years we have had the pleasure of working with the Haymes Paint family on a number of occasions. We say "family" rather than company because family is at the forefront of what this company does and how it operates.

Mother's Day sessions

Written by

Mother's Day is almost here and it's this time of year that we turn our minds to the women who raised us, love us, and have always been there and supported us throughout our lives.

Rather than flowers that wilt and chocolates that get eaten (although they do last awhile longer on the hips ;) ), why not give her something that will last forever? A portrait session with us, either in the studio or on location, will produce amazing images for her to look back on for years to come.

How to get that holiday feeling all year round.

With holidays currently at the forefront of everybody’s mind, whether you’re still enjoying one or missing the one that just finished, Infocus has decided to stretch the holiday season all year round.

Why cheaper is not always better

Written by

Nobody likes to part with more money than they have to. We’re conditioned to always hunt for a bargain and seek out the best deal. Most people are the same with photography. But let’s look at why cheaper is not always better.

Why is portrait photography so “expensive”?

The Wedding Industry Infocus

Written by

Welcome to Infocus Blog

So where are we now at Infocus?

The wedding industry

The wedding season is in full swing and at Infocus we are finding November to December a busy time. Weddings are still an ever changing market for us. Brides are becoming more discerning about their wedding and how they want to invest in their special day.

For most people, price is the first thing they ask about.

But does a price driven market produce a quality image, even if the photographer is as keen as mustard, and willing to do anything for the client? The answer is: Yes but with limitations. Does the Bride know what those limitations mean?

Ballarat Rockabilly Festival

Written by

Ballarat Rockabilly Portraiture

Over the weekend a little bit of Rockabilly made its way to Ballarat where it took over the city streets for the Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival. To help celebrate and embrace all things Rockabilly, Karina dropped by the Infocus Photography and Video Studio for a fabulously fun photo shoot. Rockabilly was one of the earliest styles of Rock and Roll Music dating back to the early 1950s in the South of the United States. With it came a movement and style that generated not only music, but fashion, cars, dancing and vibe.

Wedding Photography Tips

Written by

Wedding Season in Full Bloom now, and we love changing our shooting perspective each time we do the wedding. Here’s some tips we’ve prepared. If you have an amateur photographer in your family, your uncle or a friend who’s about to photograph your wedding, they will find it useful. Feel free to share, ask questions or comment below.

Wedding Photography Tips

1. Create a ‘Shot List’

Infocus Wedding Photography Tips for Amateur Wedding Photographers

One of the most helpful tips we can give about Wedding Photography is to get the couple to think ahead about the shots that they’d like you to capture on the day and compile a ‘shots to get’ list. This is particularly helpful in the family shots. There’s nothing worse than getting the photos back and realising you didn’t photograph the happy couple with grandma!
